Fantastic experience: This is a fairly long review, so if you want a thorough review I encourage you to read this completely. While I was searching for a studio for my little one I went through a lot, by a lot I mean the initial experience of reaching out to them, getting a feel of how they treat you as a first time customer and not just selling their studio to me. Needless to say when I reached to the Phoenix team I was expecting more of the same. Yet I was treated like a real person, I probably asked a ton of questions on the phone and on WhatsApp before I even came down for a class. Tiffany (unknown to me) who helped me out patiently was extremely welcoming and invited me to come try out a class for my kid. I figured okay they hired someone very customer friendly to bring in folks. I came in for the initial trial expecting my kid to clown around, get kicked out and have my picture hung on the door outside and never welcomed back. Tiffany who helped me turns out to be Ms. Tiffany a 3rd Degree black belt not just some receptionist who was being overly nice and trying to sell me something. She was speaking with passion which became abundantly clear. All the instructors Master Ferdinand, Mr. Shuaib, Mr. Deniz, and most importantly Master Graves are incredibly approachable and are incredible with kids. Typically when you have a high dan instructor they normally don’t care on how the place is run but this is close to 6 months into my journey my own personal experience from all the instructors I’ve seen. She and her entire staff are committed to the studio and the well being of each and every student. She plays an active part in class, instructing, guiding or watching. Even when she’s not teaching the class I promise you she can tell you how to improve. Postives: 1. Unparalleled experience from the time of joining till your journey continues wherever it may take you. You won’t regret it nor will your child. 2. Transparency. In terms of cost they are totally upfront, they don’t throw in ten more charges when it comes to the exams, belts. Whenever they do something extra they clearly state it, and believe me their events are TOTALLY worth it. They just recently concluded a board breaking competition which is absolutely phenomenal. It was one of the best experiences I could imagine for my child. The preparation that goes, and getting a child ready for competition can be nerve wrecking but they are there to guide your kids every step of the way. Even on the day of the competition. The encouragement shown was remarkable. 3. Instructors, Instructors, Instructors and the owner. They play such an important part of picking a place. Every instructor takes the time to understand your child, how to help them improve. They are not shy, it may seem harsh but they have the absolute right control of the class to help your child to improve. Negatives : 1. The parking situation outside can be a pain so either arrive a little early or take a few circles. Don’t double park behind people. 2. They have some really cool gear, like their Tshirts for parents/adults, kids, the sparring gear. This could be just me but I would love to see it displayed somewhere, and this could purely be a space issue but advertising themselves wouldn’t hurt. I would love to endorse them more wherever I can. 3. Keep more stock of the uniforms at times. 4. Please stop using Youtube kids to upload your excellent content it’s super difficult to save playlists. Your older content move it from YouTube kids if possible. So if you’ve made it this far, this is by far the best place you can find in Dubai. My negatives are minor gripes and the positives FAR FAR outweigh it. Join up, get started. Thank me later. Your kid will thank you, and your adult self will thank me as well. Then we can both thank the fantastic team at Phoenix together. Never change and keep it up incredible Phoenix team. Master Fernand, Mr. Shuaib you guys are fantastic, you both motivated a present 2 year old to join up when he turns 4.

Fantastic experience: Excellent academy to learn Taekwondo! As an adult, I decided to delve into Taekwondo with no prior experience in martial arts. Starting a new hobby, especially as an adult exposes your weaknesses while being challenged to improve during every class. This truly is an experience where you step out of your comfort zone, however the entire team starting with Master Graves keep you on track while being supportive. They are patient with each and every student and you can see they care about everyone who is participating. Being a part of the academy gives you a good sense of purpose and has emphasized the importance of discipline and focus. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to delve in to Taekwondo.

Fantastic experience: Phoenix BBA is a great, safe and trustable place to train my son to advance his martial arts. The Masters and the coaches are really put their time and efforts to help all the students to master their skills and very professional. I’ve been research many places, this place is the one. My Son able to joined for the International Competition because of their amazing support. He’s often trained together from the students from different academy and learned from them. The honor, respect and courtesy that they convey towards me is something that never felt like it was lacking. The training get’s more demanding and rewarding as you achieve higher in the belt levels (ranks). Fantastic experience: The instructors at Phoenix Black Belt Academy are all very skilled and talented and inspire us every time they demonstrate a technique with their speed and power. Master Graves and her team are continuously making improvements to the schedule and to the physical space in the dojang as the need arises. When my son's first TKD master closed his dojang in Dubai, we were at a loss where to go to continue his TKD classes. After scoping out many other martial arts studios, I decided on Phoenix Black Belt Academy and it was the BEST decision I could have made for my family. Although my son was hesitant at first because of the new environment, the staff and Master Graves warmly welcomed him and for the past 2.5 years, he has looked forward to TKD classes every session. Shortly after enrolling my son, my daughter (age 6 at the time) also started classes. She was so shy and scared and wouldn't step on to the mat. But one of the instructors came over and held her hand and brought her over to the mat and really took care of her that first lesson. As soon as she started kicking and punching, she was hooked and had so much fun in that first class. Her self-confidence and self-esteem have skyrocketed over the past few years and I can see it in her eyes every time she enters the dojang. My husband and I also enrolled and recently all four of us have earned our black belts with Phoenix Academy. Unlike a gym where you just go and train and nothing else, Phoenix Academy is a family-oriented dojang where the instructors know your name from the get-go and will always push you to do your very best.

Fantastic experience: I had enrolled my 7 years old son Yassin. The academy team is very professional and know how to deal with different kids. The location of the academy is an advantage (easy access and free parking). The place is clean and they follow all hygiene protocols.

Fantastic experience: 2 years ago my daughter (she was 8 yrs old at the time) was being bullied at school, teased and pushed around a lot and by boys. When we enrolled her into Phoenix Black Belt Academy she has gained herself confidence back and with the self defense techniques have helped her take a stand against the bullies. With what she learnt from the academy and the students creed all she did was show a stance of defense and the boys backed off and have never bothered her since. We have also since enrolled our little boy and have never been so happy about our decision. It's not an ordinary Martial arts academy, they have unique curriculum and programs that separates them to another Martial arts school.

As a parent it's amazing to watch so many kids from all backgrounds, physiques and learning abilities come together in a safe, friendly but strict atmosphere. As the little padwans develop its inspiring to see their confidence grow to the point where even before black belt they are encouraged to coach, direct parents and expertly demonstrate forms, sparring and self defense techniques thus creating their own special friendships born from mutual respect. I doubt you can get this level of self confidence in any other sport or dojo. Could not recommend it more highly for all ages.
